The US Gulf Coast spot price of methanol
was stable for the day, June 15, despite limited market activity. The spot methanol price was stable on June 15
after hearing offers of 75 cents/gal in both July and June. These
offers didn't disprove our previous assessment. The
methanol supply is adequate and the lack of interest in buying methanol has
continued throughout the week. In Europe, prices fell Eur3/mt amid
weak demand. According to a source, the demand from large
consumers is weak. Spot truck sales for methanol used in biodiesel
or paints applications saw a slight increase in demand. Southeast
Asian prices increased $7/mt on June 15, amid an increase in trading activity
and a rise in spot demand in Thailand.
