In a market that is bearish, US spot export
prices for homopolymer, copolymer and polypropylene fell by $44/mt in the week
ending May 24, despite a drop of $48/mt. On May 24, there were repeated indications that
the value of a homopolymer railcar was 38 cents/lb or $959/mt FAS Houston. PP
homopolymer fell by $33/mt in one day. The current
assessment level is the lowest since January 2023. The market
expectations for June were also lower as players awaited new offers. A market
source stated that "everyone expects lower prices, but oil has bounced
back. We'll see." Domestically, PP contract prices are 2 cents/lb
