Demand for benzene remained low on May 15 due to the current unattractive pricing compared to octane. One source stated that benzene was becoming more costly in comparison to other energy products. "Ethylbenzene or cumene are no longer suitable for gasoline." Although there were some trades at Lake Charles, the US Gulf Coast has not seen any new business for some time. On lower May tradable prices, May benzene spot value fell to 400 cents/gal DDP USG. The offers have also declined, with a 4 cent drop in the price of 404 cents/gal USG DDP on May 15th.
