US Gulf spot methanol was steady on June 1
amid a quiet market. The day saw no bids or offer,
resulting in stable spot prices. This is the third consecutive session of
trading where there were no bids. A source stated that the week will
be quiet due to an industry event beginning today, June 1 in Dusseldorf. US spot trading
volumes for May dropped 69.7% from the previous month. Around
100,000 barrels were traded in May, which is 230,000 barrels fewer than April. As the
month progressed, demand for spot material decreased as US production issues
