A trader reported that activity was low on
the European benzene markets on May 24 after a rush of activity in late May 23,
when the trading window for the settlement of the June contract price opened. Trading ranged between $930 and $935/mt, for
June delivery dates. And $950 to $965/mt during the first half of May. A trader
stated that the business for May was over. On May 24,
benzene was priced at $957.25/mt CIF-ARA for delivery in five to 30 days, down
$8.25/mt on May 23. The European benzene markets typically see a
rise in trade liquidity at the end-of-month, as the settlement date for the
