With falling monthly spreads and less
backwardation in the European naphtha markets, March 29 saw less of a decline.
East-West spreads however recovered slightly from an all-time low March 28, Sources say that while
sentiment was still affected by ongoing strikes at French refineries and a
weakening in petrochemical activity the persistent weakness in demand meant
that naphtha supply in the region was not as strong. A source said that strikes in France are a major issue.
However, I can't say that I see significant demand changes fundamentally. It is still very bad for the [petrochemical] margins. According to media reports and market sources, industrial
action continued against the French government’s pension reform on refineries
