On May 31, the Asian benzene markets saw
further price corrections due to a tepid regional demand. However, a few trades were
heard on the East China domestic market for benzene. Ex-tank materials were heard being traded at Yuan 6600-6680/mt
at least twice during the morning trading hours, and at Yuan 6640/mt in the
afternoon for H2 July laycan. When
converted to import parity in US dollars, the prices on the East China domestic
market remained below the value of FOB Korea basis markets, which stifled
natural trade flows. FOB Korea benzene
fell to a new low of $831.67/mt, compared to $825.33/mt in May 15, a drop of
