2-EH prices fall Eur 30/mt / NBA drops Eur 50/mt

Sources said that activity in the European oxoalcohols markets dropped in the week ending April 25, due to improved availability of 2-ethyl-hexanol (EH) and isobutanol. The 2-EH price fell as sellers faced a weak demand for spot cargoes. According to sources, there is more supply on the market. Sellers were said to be lowering prices in order to gain market share. The downstream demand for plasticizers was soft and stable. A producer stated that "demand-wise in Europe, things are still not very good". The 2-EH spot prices fell Eur30/mt in the past week to Eur1,820/mt, FD Northwest Europe on April 25. This is a significant drop compared to the producer's estimates between Eur1,800 and 2,000/mt.
