EDC prices drop $20/mt in a week / VCM to remain stable amid weak downstream Demand

On April 18, EDC prices for Asian ethylene di chloride fell by $20/mt in a week, to $300/mt CFR Far East Asia. For CFR Southeast Asia they dropped by $320/mt. This was due to a rise in deepsea supply. The availability of US cargoes was expected to increase the supply. A range of $270-$280/mt for US-origin freights CFR FE Asia was offered. FOB USG EDC prices were stable at $240/mt in April, despite the fact that they had been fluctuating week to week. Several market sources claimed that Asian suppliers could not match the US price level and the EDC production costs were calculated at $350/mt.
