Asian mixed isomer xylene prices fell $13/mt on May 10, from $932/mt to $932/mt, and then $12/mt to $927/mt for CFR China. This was due to lower prices both in the upstream and downstream market as well as a lower demand for MX. Paraxylene fell $9/mt to $1,003/mt for CFR Unv1/China. July ICE Brent crude futures dropped $1.07/barrel, or $83/b, at 830 GMT. MX prices also dropped Yuan 55/mt at Yuan 7,623.33/mt. However, they recovered from a very sharp drop of more than Yuan $100/mt during the morning session. Market speculation that a major East China paraxylene factory was about to close for an unexpected turnaround, and sell more MX on the local spot market caused the volatility.
