On May 13, the market was very quiet, and US methanol price for both May and June fell by 1 cent/gal. The May spot price for methanol was 93 cents/gal, FOB ITC. June spot methanol was assessed at 94 cents/gal, FOB ITC. There were no bids or trades on the market. The offer price for June dropped while the price of May was flat. This maintained the previous market structure, which had a 1 cent contango. The methanol markets have been quiet in recent weeks. This should keep prices flat for the short-term, but indicate higher prices over the long-term. A market source stated, "I am not surprised that prices are falling."
