Weak nylon demand continued to keep trade
discussions thin in the Asian caprolactam market. A buying indication was heard to be below
$1,600/mt, while a contract price sealed by a producer in the Northeast Asian
region was heard to be $1,570/mt. Market sources attributed lower price
range to the falling benzene feedstock price, in which the FOB Korea benzene
marker had landed below $800/mt since June 9. A nylon
producer from the same region was heard to be on turnaround. In China,
the explosion incident a month ago at Luxi Chemical had kept local prices from
weakening. Ex-tank supplies locally were heard around Yuan
12,300/mt, but offers for shipments had not been discussed. CFR Far East
