BPA prices rise after LG Chem's Force Majeure, but lose momentum in March

Prices of Bisphenol A (BPA), in APAC, surged late in February due to LG Chem’s Force Majeure as well as rising feedstock prices. Prices began to stabilize in early March due to a lack of downstream demand and ample stockpiles. BPA prices will continue to fall in the near future due to the slowdown of downstream polycarbonate and epoxy resin usage. BPA supplies in China were sufficient despite several maintenance shutdowns. Qingdao Haiwan, Nantong Xingchen and other plants operated at reduced rates to avoid excessive accumulation. LG Chem restarted Daesan following a Power Majeure caused by a power failure, restoring availability of BPA, Acetone, and Phenol in the region.
