Asian isomer grade mixed xylene was down
$15/mt on May 19, at $889.50/mt, FOB Korea; $912.50/mt, CFR Unv1 and down $9/mt
to $913/mt, CFR China. This decline occurred due to a decline of $19/mt in
downstream paraxylene and lower upstream prices. PX is down $19/mt, at
969/mt for CFR Unv1/China. The PX-MX differential has narrowed by $4/mt and now
stands at $79.50/mt. The fires that
occurred at US refineries during the week ending May 21 may have boosted market
sentiment. However, there was some uncertainty about whether or not shipments
to the US from Asia would be completed. Mid-year,
