- PX rises $18-23/mt- China domestic MX prices rise

On May 8, Asian isomer grade mixed xylene
increased by $22.50/mt, from $953/mt to $976/mt FOB Korea. It also rose $5/mt
to $960/mt for CFR China. This was due in part to the increase in crude oil
futures. Front-month ICE Brent futures
increased $3.06/b between May 5 and $76.42/b by 4:30 pm Singapore time (830
GMT), supporting other aromatics markets. In
downstream segments, paraxylene rose $18/mt at $1,040/mt CFR Taiwan/China. CFR China
was seen to lag behind the FOB Korea market in terms of isomer MX, which rose
by $22.50/mt. On an import parity base, domestic prices for
East China ex-tank cargoes were around Yuan 7620-7630/mt or $946.50/mt.
However, June's price was around Yuan 7550-7570/mt or $938.40/mt.
