- Chinese Phenol prices drop Yuan 100/mt during week- Acetone rises in strong
demand and low availability





Asian phenol prices dropped on the week due
to a drop in Chinese prices. Acetone prices remained firm due acetone
discussions remaining firm. The Southeast Asian markets were
quiet due to Ramadan holidays. India ex-tank discussions fell around Rupee
102-153/kg, down Rupee 2-3/kg each week. This week, CFR
indications were mixed. Most selling indications were heard
in $1,100-1,110/mt to ship cargoes from China and Unv1 in April. An couple
expressed interest in purchasing at $1.100/mt CFR India for 1,000 to2,000
mt volumes April 11th. "I had received [an offer] at $1.100/mt for
1,000mt from China, but it didn't materialize when I agreed," an
importer stated. Another trader stated that they could
possibly consider purchasing phenol at $1100/mt CFR India. Some traders
were seen using a wait and-watch strategy...
