the Dragon Boat Festival was in China, there were few discussions about spot
cargoes. Southeast Asia saw a lack of discussions for spot cargoes in July
or August. A trader said that "it's not because there are no offers,
but that there is just no buying interest." He said that while offers
at $265-$270/mt CIF Southeast Asia may pique the interest of buyers, few
traders and producers are willing to sell at these levels. Methanol
inventories among Southeast Asian users were low. This was not due to a good
