June outlook for China is less bullish / CFR India Discussions Strengthen

Methanol prices in China fell $2/mt per day on May 14, while Indian methanol rose $3.50/mt due to a strong bid amid rising international prices. Market sources say that in China, the shortage of spot cargoes has boosted domestic prices, especially in the east. However, the outlook for the month of June is more moderate. On May 14, the initial offer for June cargoes was $310/mt CIF China. However, after the Market on Close process an assessment was conducted, a seller reduced its offer to $305/mt CIF China. CFR China was down $2/mt for the day, at $305/mt. Sources said that Indian methanol prices were higher on May 14, as a result of the increased international prices.
