Chinese prices down as downstream PA6 stock builds / CFR Far East Asia market activity remains muted

Asian caprolactam stable week over week at $1,475/mt CFR Far East Asia on Feb. 27, amid thin spot trading. In the domestic Chinese market, prices dropped from the previous week amid weaker-than-expected demand from downstream nylon-6 (PA6) producers. As of the morning trade, discussions for the east China prompt market were at Yuan 10,600-10,800/mt, down about Yuan 400-500/mt from the previous week. "The recovery post-Lunar New Year holidays was likely a signal for downstream PA6 price increases. However, inventory pressure only shifted from caprolactam to PA6. End-consumer demand did not show significant improvement," a market source said. Outside China, spot discussions remained quiet, with buyers showing little interest in spot cargoes.
