CFR China styrene and FOB Korean markers for April 15 were $1,172/mt & $1,162/mt respectively, up $15/mt since the previous assessment. Sources said that discussions for Asian SM on Chinese domestic markets have intensified due to tightened supplies and high crude oil prices. Sources said that there was not much news that would have affected the market. Instead, the strong oil prices and the inventory levels at East China ports should have affected the market. Sources said that the Jiangsu spot inventory was 103,200mt. This is down 23,900mt from last week. Other market participants thought it odd that prices increased despite the news.
