Asian ABS prices fall as China's market shrinks / Market demand is stable / Feedstock Markets Rebound - Jun 14, 2024

Asian acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene prices edged down June12 along with a weakening domestic China market. ABS CFR China and CFR Southeast Asiamarkers were $1,445/mt apiece, down $5/mt from the previous week. Feedstock prices rose by $28/mt, after falling by $26/mt the week before. Butadiene and Styrene Monomer both rose by $65/mt apiece, to $1,450/mt F.O.R. China. In the week to June 12, China's average operating rates were higher due to looming capacity increases, a bad macroeconomic outlook and higher average operating costs. Comparatively, FOB China offers were $1,440/mt. We haven't imported [ABS] for a while," said arader in China. However, the limited availability of containers has restricted sales to parts of Europe and the Middle East.
