Asian ABS prices fall as China's market shrinks / Market demand is stable / Feedstock Markets Rebound - Jun 15, 2024

Asian acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene prices edged down June12 along with a weakening domestic China market. ABS CFR China and CFR Southeast Asiamarkers were $1,445/mt apiece, down $5/mt from the previous week. Feedstock prices rose by $28/mt, after falling by $26/mt the week before. Butadiene and Styrenemonomer both rose by $65/mt apiece, to $1,450/mt F.O.R. China and $1.183/mt F.O.R. China respectively. While acrylonitrile dropped $5/mt to $1,280/mt F.O.R. Far East Asia. ABS margins are at historic lows accordingto a source inChina. In the week to June 12, China's average operating rates were higher due to looming capacityexpansions, a bad macroeconomic outlook and increased average operating rates. Domestic prices took a hit. Operating rates for ABS plants were around 70%, approximately 5% higher than the previous week.
