US Gulf Coast spot Methanol was steady on
June 16, despite a quiet day. For
the sixth trading session in a row, there were no trades or bids. Only one
offer was made. Heard at 75 cents/gal on June
16. This month, only 40,000 barrels were
traded. There is no sign of an increase in the demand for spot materials. The number of barrels traded in May was 100,000, and in
April 330,000. A source stated, "I
believe we will be in this pattern throughout the summer." US methanol fell 2.7% in the past week, and any further drop
would bring prices to their lowest level since August 31, 2020. Prices could fall even further to encourage demand. A second source...
