As tensions escalated in the Middle East, Asian methanol closed the week higher on April 19. The focus of trading discussions in China was on cargoes loading in April, and sentiment increased amid the volatility in upstream oil markets. Market sources reported that despite a lackluster demand from end users in China, import cargoes were higher and domestic prices increased due to fears about supply stability. Brent crude futures for June rose by 26 cents/b, to $87.23/b on April 19, 4:30 pm Singapore time (830 GMT). CFR China methanol increased $1.50/mt in one day to $305/mt.
