In the week ending June 19, the Turkish polystyrenemarket slid due to reduced offer prices and a lack of trading activity. CFR North Africa's general purposepolystyrene price was $1,420/mt down $50 from the previous week. In Turkey, there were plenty of PS grades available, but demand was low due to Eid al-Adha. Packaging demand was higher than other applications, such as construction, which has seen lower activity than expected. Fresh North African offers, reflecting the weaker sentiment in the market were announced. EPS prices came under pressure. Due to the holidays, most buyers were absent from the market, which resulted in thin transactional activity.
