Sources claim that Asian MTBE prices dropped on May 15, due to cracks and weaker gasoline demand. S&P Global Commodity Insights showed that Asian MTBE was down $5/mt on a day-to-day basis at $864/mt, FOB Singapore, May 15. The MTBE FOB Singapore Factor was stable at 1.136. The 92 RON crack for Brent crude futures dropped to $7.25/b on May 15 from $7.42/b. Traders in Asia expect further erosion of this crack. A source reported that a trade was heard for a cargo in late May at $865/mt FOM China. This cargo is likely destined for the South Korean market.
