The price of Caustic Soda in the US was
stable during the week ending May 2. During the week, no new price indications were heard. Sources indicated, however, that demand was still subdued. Scott Sutton, Olin's CEO, said that the market conditions
were "quite bad" and the outlook was the same during the company
earnings call for the first quarter of 2023 on April 28. The world's biggest chlor-alkali manufacturer is adjusting
its position on the market for caustic and chlorine in response to a sluggish
consumer demand, he said. These
adjustments indicate lower product sales due to reduced rates, and an increase
in so-called "parlay", or purchasing product on global markets the
company doesn't produce. Olin reported
that its parlay volume rose to 16.1%...
