Benzene spot market climbs to 398 cents/gal DDP USG / Crude oil futures rise as market watches tensions in the Middle East

USG spot market benzene prices strengthened 28 cents, assessed at 398 cents/gal DDP May 6 with some 20-25,000 barrels heard to have concluded at this level, for May shipment. Bullish sentiment was characterized by business understood to have concluded late last week May 3, although reported to May 6, at 395 cents/gal DDP USG, with some 100,000 barrels traded. Greater appetite for fresh volumes has resulted in suppliers having since hiked offers to around 410 cents/gal DDP USG for prompt shipment. A buyer located on the Gulf Coast reportedly made enquiries for prompt benzene volumes, although no price level or quantity was disclosed.
