Asian styrene fell
$13/mt the following day, May 9, tracking the upstream market for benzene. This
followed a gain in the previous session of $28/mt. Benzene fell
$9/mt in one day to $906/mt CFR China, and $11.66/mt from day to day at
$890.67/mt FBO Korea. As of 0830 GMT, the
Asian close for the July ICE Brent contract was $76.04/b. This is a
38-cents-per-b decline on the day. Market
sources say that spot discussions are thin due to a weak recovery of demand in
China. A producer said that "a few
larger styrene manufacturers in China will be doing turnarounds in May. This
