The price of methanol for immediate delivery in
Europe increased slightly from day to day. On May 4, the FOB Rotterdam
5-to-30-day spot price was Eur272/mt, up Eur1/mt compared to the May prices,
and June prices were unchanged at Eur272/mt. Sources said that spot market liquidity was
still low, with only 4,000 mt of methanol traded on May delivery for
Eur371-372/mt, and Eur372/mt for June delivery. This is a slight decrease from
the 5,000mt traded the day before. A buyer stated that the main reason
for the increase in spot prices was due to product availability and imports
into Europe. As the Chinese methanol markets resumed trading
