the inter-month spread between June and July- Soft demand on styrene derivatives markets



Styrene monomer prices continue to drop on
May 23 as demand expectations remain low. Backwardation for ex-tanks cargoes in east China has
increased. The intermonth spread between June and July laycans was Yuan 195/mt,
up from Yuan 170-mt, on May 23. Prices are
generally falling but because of non-physical participants, the prices for June
domestic spot goods are elevated, according to a China-based broker. H1 & H2 laycans were priced at Yuan 7,755/mt for the
east China market on May 23. H1 & H2 laycans were priced at Yuan 7 560/mt.
The June-July spread was Yuan 195-225/mt. Polymer
