PX rises $2.33/mt on day / China's market closes for the holiday

Market sources reported that Asian isomer grade mixed xylene increased $3.50/mt from day to day, to $989.50/mt FOB Korea. It was also up $2.50/mt to $982.50/mt FOB China, as demand for May H2 loading cargoes grew in the FOB Korea markets, amid an interest in arbitrage shipments into the US. The PX-MX Spread has now been reduced to less than $50/mt, for the first since November 2022. The spread was $48.83/mt on April 30, the lowest since Nov. 22, 20,22 when it was $45.67/mt. The traders stated that the focus of the arbitrage was MX and Toluene, as these are two gasoline blendstocks.
