EDC prices remain stable despite slow market activity / VCM prices fall on weak downstream demand

On April 25, despite thin trading, EDC's Asian ethylene-dichloride prices remained stable from week to week at $300/mt CIF Far East Asia and 320/mt CIF Southeast Asia. As the market was sluggish, there were no new deals or offers. Sources said that trading activity in the region has slowed down due to regional holidays. These include Japan's Golden Week, which will run from April 29 to May 5, and China's Labor Day, which runs from May 1 to 5. A producer said, "We cannot sell spot this week and we have no intention of selling because prices are low." The supply was stable with a good availability of cargoes from both Asia and the US.
