Asian Paraxylene Prices rose on May 6 reflecting a slight recovery of crude prices, despite a decline in PTA Futures. Asian paraxylene prices rose $3/mt in one day to $1,026.67/mt of CFR Unv1/China on May 6. The market participants were expecting the lower oil prices of last week to put pressure on PX spot price. A trader from India stated that "as China opens expect PX to open lower due to the drop in crude last week." Oil prices rose during the day, as the renewed violence in Gaza and the stalled ceasefire negotiations reignited geopolitical risks among market observers.
