Crude oil futures rise on day / Muted market activity

US Gulf Coast benzene prices remained stable on June 5, despite higher crude oil futures. Spot June DDP benzene was 374 cents/gal USG DDP and June FOB at 379 cents/gal USG FOB, both unchanged on the day. Prices for July were set at 370 cents/gal DDP and 375 cents/gal FOB, both unchanged on the same day. Ethylbenzene was assessed at 363 Cents/gal DDP in June and 369 Cents/gal DDP in July. The FOB-DDP premium was unchanged at 5 cents, and the backwardation between front and forward months remained at 4 cents. The market was inactive. In wider energy markets, crude prices settled higher on June 5 after the US Energy Information Administration reported a smaller-than-expected crude oil inventory build on the week.
