Asian MTBE dropped $21/mt from day to day,
reaching $857/mt F.O.B. Singapore on May 4. This was in line with a drop in
Brent crude oil. On
May 4, the July ICE Brent crude futures contract fell 94 cents/b per day, to
$73.11/b. This was in line with a decline in Brent crude oil. MTBE has seen a slowdown in demand due to low gasoline
blending and poor crack margins. A Chinese
supplier reported that the Chinese domestic price was stable at around Yuan
7,600/mt North China. However, prompt supply in China is tight. A shortage of immediate supply in China may open an inverse
