May benzene markets weaken to 392 cents/gal USG / Crude Oil Futures Settle Lower

The US Gulf Coast benzene price dropped 2 cents in the US Gulf Coast on April 30, due to lower crude oil prices. Market activity was slow with few bids/offers. This activity was limited to May. The bid/offers were heard between 383 and 393 cents/gal. DDP. This pushed the market down. The FOB-DDP premium was unchanged at 5 cents. May and June prices were still at a 2-cent price backwardation. The backwardation rate between June and the month of July remained unchanged at 2 cents. The downstream spot price of styrene was stable despite the drop in benzene. This activity was heard for both May and June.
