Low demand led to a $100-120/mt drop in US
acetic acids prices for the week ending June 8. Prices of acetic acid fell
11.1%, to their lowest level since February 18, 2021. The change in European prices was a result of a weakening
demand and soaring supply. Prices fell by Eur80-82/mt. The spread remained at about $165-180/mt. The VAM price was $100-115/mt less than the previous week.
This reduced the spread between European and American prices to $520-535/mt. Sources said that the demand for AA and VM was low and it
was difficult to find buyers who would purchase spot material. Sources said they expected prices to continue dropping. The spot price of methanol fell by 5.1% this week, as global
demand continued to remain...
