Lower crude oil prices pressure market activity / Phenol Offers Limited During Day

In the week ending March 18, Asian phenol prices fell due to weaker demand in China. Sources on the market expect spot prices to remain stable in the short term. A Malaysian trader expressed the same sentiment about weak prices due to lower Chinese demand. The trader stated that "prices have dropped and demand has also decreased." According to the trader, any price improvement is unlikely given the current pressure on crude oil. The trader stated that "Crude [oil] prices keep falling, so nobody wants to buy right now." Crude oil prices rose day over day. Market sources, however, do not anticipate a significant rise in prices at this time. The daytime phenol offers were very limited, but sources on the market said that prices will remain largely below $900/mt....
