US Gulf Coast benzene prices increased by 2 cents in May, amid a quiet market. spot May DDP benzene at 401 cents/gal DDP USG and May FOB benzene at 406 cents/gal FOB USG. The ethanolbenzene price was assessed at 357cents/gal in May DDP and at 363cents/gal in June DDP. This is based on a June RBOB+100cents/gal FOB LB offer that was heard for May. The FOB-to-DDP premium was unchanged at 5 cents, and the backwardation was at 6 cents. The market was quiet with only 2 bids and few offers. Crude oil futures declined on May 21, as the prospect of a rate increase dampened demand expectations, which outweighed positive developments in the Middle East.
