China prices fall as buyers remain on the sidelines / MTBE sold by Chinese to domestic market

Prices in Asia fell due to a bearish gasoline market and a decrease in gasoline cracks. Asian MTBE, FOB Singapore was down $9/mt on the day to $869/mt on May 14, while MTBE factor at FOB Singapore remained stable at 1.136. The crack ratio of 92 RON gasoline to Brent crude oil, which was previously $8.44/b per day, has been reduced to $7.42/b on May 14. Asian players claimed that there was no demand for China or Singapore cargoes and that the buyers were gone. Sources said they were feeling very bearish about the outlook for gasoline prices in Asia, and that they expected Asian MTBE to follow the bearishness on the gasoline market.
