Prices for Asian paraxylene were unchanged in Asia on April 23. Demand indicators continued to be flat, while increased supplies dampened sentiment. On April 23, Asian PX was unchanged at $1,047/mt of CFR Unv1/China. Market sources say that the expectations of gasoline blending ahead of summer driving in the US have not materialized, and this has supported PX prices. A trader in Asia stated that PX prices have occasionally risen as expectations for blending demand increased, but these gains were short-lived. The trader stated that the blending market had traded ahead of time, and some gains were already priced in.
