The May 30th prices for Asian paraxylene FOB Korea and CFR Unv1/China markers were $1,057.33/mt, respectively. Both marks had risen $10.66/mt in the same day. Bids rose during the Market on Close process, with SK Geocentric purchasing a cargo for July from TotalEnergies, at $1,058/mt, CFR Unv1/China. The market was relatively quiet in the morning hours of Asia trading because participants were busy attending the APIC Conference in Seoul. However, around noon, the market became buzzing as news broke of the fire at the Hengyi Brunei Refinery. PX and PTA prices began to rise quickly after the Hengyi refinery confirmed the fire in a letter. The September contract on China's Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange rose Yuan 70/mt, or $8.54/mt, to Yuan 6,024/mt during the second half of the trading session. The...
