MTBE FOB Singapore Asian was up 50 cents for the day on May 28th, at $853/mt. The MTBE factor FOB Singapore was assessed at 1.135 - down from 1.136. On May 28, the gasoline RON-92 crack was reported to have decreased to $5.53/b from $6.55/b on the previous day. Traders believe that the market participants may have overreacted in the gasoline and MTBE sectors, resulting in much smaller cracks. The MTBE FOB Singapore was also rated as narrower in light of the tightening gasoline crack. Sources in China said there were no offers made because the domestic prices in China were higher than Asian ones.
