The Turkish polystyrene market was slow in the week to Aug. 28, as buyers continued to purchase hand to mouth. the CFR Turkey expandable polystyrene spot price at $1,695/mt, stable on the week. Sellers in Turkey were met with persistent soft demand for spot cargoes. Producers continued to see low volume trade in August, while feedstock styrene monomer costs were up from July. Turkish demand for polystyrene continued to be impacted by unfavorable economic conditions in the country, including elevated interest rates, limited credit availability from banks and double digit inflation. The Turkish Statistical Institute reported annual inflation in Turkey at 61.78% for July.
