US Acrylonitrile Prices Rise as Production Costs Increase Despite Low Demand / Spot export prices rise $5 in the past week / Market shows low inventory

The US acrylonitrile market spot prices were either stable or higher for the week ending on August 27, despite the continued scenario of low demand. US spot acrylonitrile is now $1,410/mt, FOB US Gulf. This represents a $5 increase from the previous week. Market feedback indicates that inventories are low and production costs are rising. The price was below the $1,430/mt FOB USGC indication and in line with the last trades heard for the previous weeks of $1,410/mt. Trade margins have been squeezed by the price rises on propylene, ammonia and acrylonitrile. One producer stated that "participants are making to order so there isn't much inventory in the supply chain."
