CFR FE Asia EDC hits lowest level since Aug 2023 VCM on the rise amid PVC firmer / Asia PVC/VCM Spread falls but remains above breakeven

The price of Asian ethylene di chloride dropped $20-$45/mt during the week ending May 23, due to increased Middle East supplies. CFR Far East Asia EDC fell by $45/mt in a week to $255/mt on May 23. This is the lowest price since August 3, 2023 when it was $250/mt. CFR Southeast Asia EDC was $20/mt cheaper at $300/mt. Several market sources stated that supplies were adequate following an influx in Middle East volumes. Some trading sources suggested that Middle East suppliers might try to sell their volume to India to get a better price. Data showed that the cost-based value of chlorine in Northeast Asia fell to minus $71.17/mt on May 23, compared with minus $9.69/mt one week earlier.
