Asian Caprolactam: Prices rise $10/mt in a week due to renewed demand/ CPDC increases CP price to $1,655/mt by $15/mt / Benzene up over $17/mt on week

The price of Asian caprolactam increased in the week ending August 28 as the price discussion was higher than the previous week. The assessment window covered the period from Sept. 18 through Oct. 8. Sources at Taiwan's China Petrochemical Development Corporation said that the company had announced earlier its contract price of $1,655/mt F.R.Taiwan Aug. 28. This was $15/mt higher than last month's $1640/mt. Sources said that tradable indications for cargoes between Sept. 18 and Oct. 8 were also around $1,640-1,655/mt. A producer stated that "there is demand from India, but China sold them a lot." The monthly average price for benzene has been relatively stable which supports the caprolactam markets.
