In the week ending December 19, Asian caprolactams were priced $10/mt less at $1,505/mt CFA Far East Asia as the sentiment on the Chinese domestic market weakened. Sources on the market said that supply was plentiful and that selling ideas were flexible due to a sluggish demand downstream. Sinopec has adjusted prices by Yuan 50/mt (equivalent to $1,510/mt) due to the year-end slowdown. Due to low buying interest and high regional supply ahead of the year end, the Asian benzene FOB Korean price dropped $4.33/mt from week to week to $900/mt. East China's benzene stocks increased 68.6% over the past year, reaching 157,000 mt. 33,000 mt arrived during the week. The ammonia CFR Far East Asia mark was stable at $440/mt in December.
