Asian Caprolactam: Stable, as tradeable indicators remain rangebound / Benzene gains $34/mt on week / CPDC Taiwan falls to Aug CP

The week ended August 1, Asian caprolactams were stable, despite rangebound trading signals. After falling by $37/mt the previous week, upstream benzene price rose to $1,001/mt F.O.B. Korea. Ammonia fell by $10/mt in the past week. The last estimate of ammonia was $440/mt Far East Asia, on July 31. Taiwanese producer CPDC lowered its contract price for August caprolactam to $1640/mt from $1720/mt in July. This was done to align with expectations due to a declining caprolactam industry. One source said that prices in China are stable and may see a recovery in the next few days. One source said that prices have likely reached resistance levels and the outlook is for stable to higher prices.
